Year 3 Summer Term 2019
Welcome back after a lovely Easter break. Last and final term of Year 3.
Our topic this term is ‘Battles and Banquets’ (Tudors) . The children usually love this topic and finding out all the gruesome facts about the Tudors and their lives.
Our class trip this term will be after the Half term and we hope to visit the Tudor Merchant house in Tenby which will be a real treat and the pupils will really get a good understanding of life back in the Tudor times.
Next week we begin the National tests but we will carry on as normal and the class will complete the ‘quizzes’. They are familiar with the style of all 3 tests and we will try to make the week pass as easily as we can with as little pressure on the children as they are only one assessment tool to see how the pupils are performing.
PE this term will be journeying, athletics and tennis. We hope to make the most of Miss Milner in our classroom and she will take a PE session each week. PE will be planned on a 2 week rota for the days so we feel it would probably be easier for the children to keep a PE kit in school for week and then they can change as and when the PE sessions take place. If anyone is unsure about these sessions please feel free to come and have a chat. This term we hope to be outside more with the good weather and with Sports day this term , we may have extra sessions as and when possible.
Spelling homework will start back up after the tests and we will also give homework on the MyMaths website.
Pupils also have their times table targets to work on and they have online books assigned to them on the website www.activelearn.co.uk
Can we work hard again this term to regularly read the hard back Bug Club books from school and regularly change books to see even more improvement in our pupils’ reading before they move into Year 4.

Year 3 9/4/19
Year 3 have uploaded their oracy presentations to their HWB. At home you can now watch these videos and take a look at their self evaluations and peer assessments.
No spelling words this week as Year 1,2 and 3 are having their Circus mix up day working on bubbles and missions.
We will be sending home some practice papers as Year 3 will have their National tests after the holidays.
