Patrwm yr wythnos/Pattern of the week
Every week (usually a Monday), Criw Cymraeg choose a new pattern of the week.
Criw Cymraeg then monitor the pupils in their class using this pattern and help the teacher award a certificate on the following Monday.
We will be posting the ‘patrwm yr wythnos’ here so that you can use it at home.

Advantages of Learning Welsh by our Criw Cymraeg
In our last Criw Cymraeg meeting, we came out with 8 reasons for learning and speaking Welsh.
- Sense of identity and belonging
- Can be fun to learn another language
- Being part of a community
- Being able to speak to other welsh speakers,
- Understand TV programmes (e.g. rugby on TV),
- Jobs (many jobs in Wales are in demand of welsh speakers so it may be easier for you to get a job)
- Good for your brain, keeps your brain fit.
- It’s going to be a language of the future in Wales!

What is the Siarter Iaith/Language Charter?
The simple objective of the Siarter Iaith is to provide a clear framework, which can be used to promote and increase the use of Welsh by children. In a nutshell, the Charter’s main aim is to promote a strong Welsh ethos in schools and to provide a range of enriching activities that propel the children to enjoy learning Welsh.
In order move forward with the Siarter Iaith we need participation from every member of the school community, and members of the school workforce and council, the pupils and their parents, school governors and the wider community are all encouraged to take full ownership of it.
The Criw Cymraeg are instrumental in leading and driving the Language Charter forward.
