Year 3 Maths Homework 22nd January

MyMaths.co.uk  has been given to Year 3 to work on at home using the homework tool.

All of year 3 have their own log in and password.

The homework has been set for every week up to half term, any problems please come in and see us.

We have started to work on telling the time using analogue and 12 hour digital. Please help your child at home to understand the small hand for hours and long hand for minutes. Support them to work on 5 minute intervals past and to the hour. Keep asking them to tell the time through the day and even convert to digital discussing am and pm. Pupils would benefit from wearing a watch everyday. Talking about minutes in an hour, seconds in a minute, hours in a day, weeks in a month and so on…  Boys and girls can find this topic very difficult and it needs to be slowly worked on to build their confidence to learn this life skill of telling the time.

In Year 3 pupils should be able to :

read hours and minutes on a 12-hour digital clock using am/pm conventions

tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes on an analogue clock and calculate how long it is to the next hour

calculate start times, finish times and durations using hours, 30-minute intervals and 15-minute intervals
In Year 4 pupils should be able to :
read hours and minutes on a 24-hour digital clock
tell the time to the nearest minute on analogue clocks
calculate start times, finish times and durations using 5-minute intervals
